This guide will go over the different ways in Lost Sword that allow you to get extra defense layers so your characters can survive longer.

Optimizing your damage and blasting monsters and bosses is always cool, but it’s no fun when random enemies are killing you constantly.

Lost Sword is an idle game

Sometimes you will get stuck regardless how well you optimize your defenses and damage.

Lost Sword is an idle game so this is normal, play at your own pace!

Food

Obviously the first and simplest defense layer any player can take advantage of is food.

Nowadays thanks to newer types of food you can get permanent damage reduction and extra offensive buffs.

You can buy food if you click on the inn attendant. We recommend doing it every single day so you can stock up and use them when needed.

Town & Guild buffs

Since they are pretty similar and easy to get, I’m putting these two together.

Town buffs are obtained by doing your weekly Labyrinth and then exchanging those materials to upgrade your town.

Guild buffs are obtained by simply joining a guild. We recommend contributing daily so you can level up faster, since everyone in the guild will benefit from this.

Training

This new system allows you to get a lot of stats for your units, but some of them are actually global passive stats.

You can read more on how the system works on our full training guide.

As a TL:DR since we are talking about defensive layers:

Gear

With all the basic methods of getting defensive layers, it’s time we talk about the three important ones, starting with gear.

Gear and what stats are good to keep you alive depend a lot on the current state of your account.

For example, armors early on you want to focus on Crit Resistance, but endgame you benefit more from getting Defense instead, since a lot of the gear will give you Crit Resistance as passive stats for free (usually around 10-20%).

Both runes and trinkets can also help you survive longer since you can get HP% lines on both of them.

Pets

Lost Sword has plenty of pets that will increase your chances of survival, be it because the stats they provide (like Eva Eva Eva ) or the passives they have, giving you shields, buffs or just with utility like the case of Esteria.

To know what pets can help you survive longer, check the ones with a heart and shield icons, since those are defensive oriented pets.

Characters

The last and most important point of defensive layers, your team composition.

Lost Sword has plenty of characters that will help you survive longer (not including healers obviously).

Shields

A few characters in the game can shield themselves or allies. This is situational since most shields don’t proc consistently enough.

Damage reduction

One of the best passives to help you survive longer, and you can use multiple characters to stack it up.

Attack reduction

Reducing the enemy attack is a great way of also increasing your survivability, characters that can help with that:

Summary

There are more ways of improving your defensive layers, but if you follow the ones we talked about in this guide it should help you increase your survivability.
